The higher the resolution, the more accurate the detail in the image. With analog technology, a recorded image generally has no more than 0.1 megapixels (CIF). One single MOBOTIX camera with 6 megapixels records around 60 times more detail. As a result, larger image areas with up to 360° allround views are possible, thus reducing the number of cameras, and therefore the costs. Disadvantages Of The Old Centralized Standard Solution
Usually, cameras only supply the images while the processing and recording is done later on a central PC using expensive video management software. An HDTV MPEG4 film already puts considerable strain on a PC, so how can it be expected to process dozens of high-resolution live cameras? Traditional centralized systems are therefore less suitable and unprofitable when compared with high-resolution systems due to the high number of PCs needed.
The Decentralized MOBOTIX Concept
Unlike other systems, with the decentralized MOBOTIX concept, a high-speed computer and if necessary, digitallong-term memory (MicroSD Card) is built into every camera, providing several days of recording time. The PC and the video control center now serve only for viewing and controlling the cameras (PTZ), not for analysis or recording. This makes it unnecessary to purchase expensive video management software, as the most important and computer-intensive functions are already integrated in the MOBOTIX cameras.
TMOBOTIX video solutions therefore require significantly:
• fewer cameras due to the more accurate detail of wide-angle images with megapixel technology,
• fewer storage devices, because in the decentralized system, 10 times the standard number of cameras can simultaneously store high-resolution HDTV video with sound on one PC/server.

Robust And Low-Maintenance
MOBOTIX cameras do not require any lens or positioning motors. Without any moving parts, they are so robust that maintenance is reduced to a minimum. The unique temperature range from -30° to +60°C (-22° to +140°F) is achieved without heating or fan at only 3 watts power consumption. Since no PC hard disk is required for recording, there are no parts that wear out in the entire video system.
Software Included - For Life
There are no software or licensing costs with MOBOTIX, because the software is always supplied within the camera - for an unlimited number of cameras and users. The software package supplied with the camera also includes a professional control center software used at soccer stadiums, for example. Updates are supplied free of charge on the website. The system price for a weatherproof camera including lens, query software and day-to-day recording on the SD card costs under 1,000 Euros.
The New Benchmark in Lowlight for Objects in Motion
The brand-new MOBOTIX 6MP cameras have an outstanding increase of light sensitivity of more than 100-times than the former 3MP cameras. The monochrome version reaches even a 300-times higher sensitivity than the previous series. Instead of one full second of exposure time the new 6MP systems can select only 1/100 s which results in capturing even fast moving objects in low light conditions.
Short Exposure Times are Essential
In security monitoring every moment and therefore every single frame of a video recording has to be as sharp as possible. For moving objects this implies the necessity of short instead of long exposure times. Unfortunately a short exposure time of 1/100 s grabs 10-times less light than a 1/10 s. Especially in low light conditions, the lens, the image sensor itself and the image processing for sure have to be very sophisticated to generate a sharp and crisp image of the moving object.

Auto Image Stabilizer
Cameras attached to poles may be affected by high winds. Cameras may also be affected by vibration from aircraft, trains or large trucks. Automatic image stabilization prevents blurring under these conditions.
Scene Change Detection
This feature detects interference and sends an alarm signal when the camera's operation has been hampered with, such as a manual change in the camera's angle, removal of the camera lens, defocus, blockage of the camera lens with cloth or paint.
Auto Tracking (WV-CW974/WV-CW964/WV-CS954, WV-NS202A, WV-NS954 and WV-NW964 only)
This feature automatically follows the largest movement in the image, causing the camera to pan and tilt to keep the object in the center of the image. The WV-CW974 Series adds a new Template Matching algorithm that compares the recorded image with template color, shape and contrast settings. Use of templates to compare moving objects with other characteristics of the scene enables more accurate tracking. Plus, the operator can lock the camera onto a particular object by pressing a single button on the optional system controller.
